Counsellor Websites

Questions and answers

Everything people ask before they commit.

If yours isn't here, ask it. I'd rather answer an awkward question now than have you find out later.

Is £199 really the full price?

Yes, for the six-page site described on the pricing page. There's no setup fee and nothing hidden.

If you want more than six pages, or booking and payments built in, I'll quote for that separately and you'll see the number before any work starts.

What is the £19 a month for?

Hosting, the security certificate, software updates, daily backups, uptime monitoring, and up to half an hour of changes each month.

It's cancellable with 30 days' notice, and the site is yours whether you take it or not.

Do I own my website?

Yes. The site and the domain are in your name. If you decide to leave, you take it with you and I'll help you move it.

How long does it take?

About two weeks from the point you send me your words and photographs.

The main variable is you, not me. Most delays are waiting on content, which is exactly why I offer to write the first draft.

I'm not technical. Is that a problem?

No. You need to send me some text and a photograph, and tell me what you think of what I show you. That's the whole of your involvement.

I'll handle every technical decision, and explain any of them you'd like explained.

I don't know what to write about myself.

Almost everyone says this.

We'll have a conversation, I'll draft it from that, and you edit it until it sounds like you. Writing about yourself is genuinely hard — you shouldn't have to do it from a blank page.

Can I put client testimonials on my site?

This one is worth talking through properly rather than answering in a box.

Client feedback raises real confidentiality and consent questions, and the ethical frameworks take it seriously. In practice there are safer ways to build the same trust: your qualifications, your professional body membership, and describing your approach clearly enough that the right person recognises themselves in it.

I won't push you towards anything that puts you the wrong side of your framework. If you're unsure, your supervisor is the right person to ask.

Will I show up on Google?

Your site will be set up so it can be found — proper page titles, a sitemap submitted to Google, and your name and location where they need to be.

For competitive searches, like 'counsellor' plus a large city, ranking takes sustained work over months and I won't pretend otherwise. What a site reliably does is come up when someone searches your name, which is what most people do before they call.

What if I already have a website?

Then the question is whether it's earning its keep.

Send me the link. I'll tell you honestly whether you need a rebuild or just a tidy-up — and the tidy-up is cheaper, so I'll say so if that's the answer.

Can you take bookings and payments?

Yes, but not inside the £199. Booking and payment need setting up and testing properly, so I quote them separately.

If you already use something like Cliniko, WriteUpp, Halaxy or Acuity, I can connect it rather than replace it.

Do you work with hypnotherapists and coaches too?

Yes. Counsellors are most of the people I work with, but the same applies to anyone in private practice in the talking therapies.

Where are you based?

The North West of England, and I work with people across the UK.

Everything can be done over a call. I've never needed to be in the same room as someone to build their website.

Something I’ve missed? Email me and I’ll answer it — and probably add it here.

Shall we have a chat?

Give me a ring. No charge, no pitch — if a website isn't the right thing for you right now, I'll tell you.
